Ibrahim Oshafu, a medical personnel at Dalhatu Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, Nasarawa State has been confirmed dead after contact with an infected Lassa fever patient. The late medical personnel who has since been buried was among members of the DASH rescue team, the facility being the only specialist hospital owned by the state.


Following Oshafu’s demise, other medical personnel from DASH have decided to join the ongoing strike action, a decision which has left the state grounded, the herald reports.

Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dalhatu Specialist Hospital, Dr. Edego Egba confirmed the decision to join the ongoing strike action.

The death of the medical doctor brings the total number of recorded deaths from Lassa Fever to two.
