Dolapo Interviews Ja Rule, Reekardo Banks, Continues Search for Celebrity Assistant on ‘The Marcy Project’

American gruff-voiced rapper, Ja-rule surely had a great time on ‘The Marcy Project’ as he talked to Dolapo about his experience in Nigeria, his new song and auto-biography titled, "The Highs and Lows of Becoming a Man" written to inspire young people by giving them a message of hope. Also, our very own, Reekardo Banks shared his thoughts on what it feels like to be part of the Mavin’s. "It’s like working with not just the winning team but the best team". Fire Razes Mechanic Village, Kills Three Siblings in Lagos

Fire razed the Mechanic Village in Oke Afa area of Isolo, Lagos and killed three siblings in their sleep. The fire was said to have broken out at midnight behind Jakande Estate, Oke Afa in Isolo while people were sleeping.

Dino Melaye Explains Why Escorted Saraki's Wife to EFCC

Senator Dino Melaye, has defended his recent visit to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).  The Senator was sighted at the EFCC office during the interrogation of wife of the Senate President, Toyin Saraki, by the anti-graft agency. Melaye in a statement entitled: "Stand Up For What You Believe In," and issued on Friday in Abuja, said he has made sacrifices for the country and had survived assignation attempts.

Photos: Anti-Gay Activist Stabs 6 at Gay Pride March in Jerusalem

The annual Gay Pride march took place in Jerusalem on Thursday, but an Orthodox Jewish assailant, Schlissel stabbed and wounded six participants. Marchers numbering about 5,000 and waving banners were heading down an avenue when an ultra-Orthodox man jumped into the crowd and plunged a knife into some of them, witnesses said. Police arrested Shlissel at the scene. It is understood that Schlissel was only released from prison three weeks ago following his 2005 attack which injured three people. See more photos…

Ondo State to Host BON 2015

The wait has ended. So have the guesses. This year, the Best of Nollywood Awards holds December 12th in Akure, Ondo State. The governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, made this announcement Thursday morning at a meeting with the organisers of BON and select Nollywood stars inside his stately country home in Ondo town, Ondo State. "On behalf of the good people of Ondo State and me, we are set to host the Best of Nollywood Awards this year. We will give spirit and soul to the awards ceremony because it would be held in the best and only international events centre in Nigeria. Our new Dome would make the Expo Centre in Lagos look like a village kitchen," he boasted.

EFCC Arrests Sacked NIMASA DG over Multi-million Naira Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the immediate past Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, two weeks after he was fired from his post. Mr.  Akpobolokemi was reportedly arrested in Lagos Thursday morning and was detained at the Lagos office of the EFCC in the Ikoyi area of the city.

Nigerian Chigozie Obioma, 12 Others for Man Booker Prize

A Nigerian, Chigozie Obioma is among the 13 writers listed for ‘Man Booker Dozen’, for the £50,000 Man Booker Prize announced Wednesday, July 29 . This year’s longlist of 13 books was selected by a panel of five judges chaired by Michael Wood, and also comprising Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, John Burnside, Sam Leith and Frances Osborne. The judges considered 156 books for this year’s prize.

Court Orders Police to Pay N18m Fine to 3 Transporters

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the Nigeria Police Force to pay a fine of N18 million for illegally selling off three fuel tanker trailers belonging to three fuel tanker owners. Dauda Jibril, Vwede Akpohonor and William Onos, had in 2007 sued the Inspector-General of Police over the unlawful selling off their tanker trailers by the police during the pendency of a suit.

Former LG Councilor Dies in Generator Fire

Generator fire reportedly killed a former Supervisory Councilor in the Kosofe Local Government Area, Olu Ogunbanjo and razed his music shop in Oworonshoki, Lagos state.  Ogunbanjo, who served in the LGA between 2003 and 2007, sustained severe degree of burnt that led to his death at the General Hospital, Gbagada.
