The Government of the State of Osun has announced the commencement of the process of paying the salaries of civil servants in the state. In a statement issued by the Governor’s Office, the government said it is paying the balance of November and full December salary arrears owed. We must assure our people that serious efforts are on to ensure the remaining months are also cleared.

It has been revealed that South Sudan's army and allied militias "abducted, torched and gang-raped girls" during fighting against rebel forces, a UN report says. Investigators found that at least 172 women and girls were abducted and subjected to sexual violence, it added.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday constituted a four-man committee to probe NNPC over N3.8 trillion unaccounted for by the corporation in the last three years. Ajayi Peters, aka Ajana, 28, has been stabbed to death in the Makoko area of Yaba, Lagos State after a disagreement over N50 loaf of bread. Peters was killed by a bread vendor, identified simply as Yinka, aka Buredi, who sales bread on a slab.

The kidnapped former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Ondo state, Prof. Albert Ilemobade is dead, and his decomposed body found in his home. Prof. Ilemobade's body was found dead on Sunday afternoon at "an abandoned store" inside his compound at Ilaje street, Ijapo Estate in Akure.
