Friday, Monday Declared Public Holiday

Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6 has been declared public holiday by the Federal Government to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations respectively. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, made the declaration in a statement issued on his behalf in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abubakar Magaji.

Diamond Bank Sustains Growth in Balance Sheet & Revenue

Diamond Bank Plc has reported growth in key financial parameters for the year ended December 31, 2014. The group recorded a growth of 27.3% in total assets from N1.52 trillion recorded in the year ended December 31, 2013 to N1.93 trillion for the year ended December 31, 2014. The growth was driven by a 23.8% growth in deposit liabilities year-on-year, demonstrating the bank’s strong ability to generate cheap deposits from the retail and middle market segments. Deposit from customers grew from N1.21 billion in 2013 to N1.49 billion as at December 31, 2014.

President Goodluck Jonathan has won the presidential election of Ebonyi state. He polled 323,653 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, who had 19,518 votes.

Military Rescues Women, Children from Gwoza

A number of women, the elderly and children who were locked up by fleeing terrorists in Gwoza have been freed by troops as cordon and search along with mopping up operations continue in the town. The freed hostages some of whom are so weak are being given medical attention while others are also receiving necessary care pending the arrival and activities of aid agencies.

Jonathan Defeats Buhari in Nasarawa

President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated his opponent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gen. Mohammadu Buhari in a keenly contested election in Nasarawa State, Leadership reports. Two Siblings Die, as Cooking Stove Sets Bungalow Ablaze in Lagos

Two siblings, Paul 4, and his sister 1, have been burnt to death after fire gutted a bungalow in the Igbo-Efon, Lekki area of Lagos State on Saturday. PUNCH  was told that the fire began from a cooking stove which exploded in the bungalow where the victims lived with their parents. Police Arrests Man & His Monkey over Robbery

A 26-year-old man, Mohammed Rafiu and his 10-year-old monkey have been arrested for alleged robbery by police in Lagos. Rafiu is accused of using monkeys and snakes to scare his victims who for fear of their lives will drop their bags and run. Both the suspect and the monkey were arrested at Ogba, Lagos, shortly after allegedly robbing one of their victims of N240,000.

All credible independent polls predict a Buhari victory. Some with more winning margins than others, but all gave APC victory in four of our six zones with major inroads in the other two zones. This is expected given the demographics of our polity, the incompetence and profligate corrupt culture of the PDP-led Jonathan administration that has generated an overwhelming desire for change in Nigeria. So nothing has changed since the contrived six weeks postponement of the 14th February elections. March 28th, the liberation day for Nigerians, the date for all to stand up and march for Buhari, is only hours away and is being awaited with hope, voting zeal and fearless determination of Nigerians to reclaim Nigeria and determine their fate.

Ascon Oil Fire Outbreak: No Life Lost, Fire Contained – Management Says

The management of Ascon Oil has released a statement over the fire incident that occurred that their fuel station in Lekki phase 1 today. According to the statement, the accident was compounded by the current fuel scarcity in the country.
