Chadian Fighter Jets Bomb Boko Haram in Borno

Around midday on Saturday, Chadian aircraft bombed the Nigerian town of Gamboru in a raid targeting Islamist extremist group Boko Haram. A raid was carried out by two fighter jets along the Cameroon border, sources from Chad and Cameroon said on condition of anonymity.

General, Col, Five Officers Arrested over Baga Attack

Nigerian military have arrested senior Army personnel on attachment to the Multi National Joint Task Force for allegedly shirking their responsibilities during the Baga attack by the militants. Arrested were Brig. Gen, a Lt. Col. and five other officers of the Nigerian Army deployed to the Baga headquarters of Multinational Joint Task Force, which was attacked and taken over by members of the Boko Haram sect on January 5, 2015.

Arik Air Passengers Shut Down Abuja Airport

Passengers, who travel to Ibadan by Arik Air but were left stranded for hours by the airline have shut down operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The aggrieved passengers have blocked the boarding gate of the airport and are not allowing  Arik and other airlines to board passengers to other destinations, Premium Times reports.

Dead Bodies of Two Pupils Found in Osun River

Corpses of two pupils from Ijetu area of Osogbo were discovered in Osun River, a situation that threw the whole community into mourning. A woman had gone to the river to fetch water when she found the corpses of the two pupils floating on the river. The pupils were identified as Samson Obasanjo and Kabiru, pupils of Junior Secondary School 2 at Ife-Oluwa Middle School, Osogbo.

Malaysia has declared the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 an accident, clearing the way for the airline to pay compensation to victims' relatives while the search for the plane goes on. The Boeing 777 aircraft (BA.N) disappeared on March 8 last year, carrying 239 passengers and crew shortly after taking off from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, bound for Beijing, Reuters reports.
