A 28-year-old man allegedly stripped himself naked before entering a home, stole a woman's purse, and then tried to run over a man with his SUV as he attempted to flee the scene, before he was arrested by the police.

The man, identified as, Adam Pettibone was arrested by Police in California on suspicion of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, PEOPLE reports. He is being held in Placer County Jail on $250, 000 bail.

Police said they received a report about a man standing naked near a house around 8 p.m. on December 25. Officers then received a call that a naked man had just walked in a nearby home and that the homeowner's boyfriend had chased after him.

"As the boyfriend chased the nude male, the male suspect got into a Chevrolet SUV and attempted to run over the victim as the suspect fled the scene," the police said in a statement. The boyfriend was struck by the SUV as the vehicle drove away but wasn't seriously injured.

After officers arrived to investigate, they discovered that Pettibone had allegedly stole a purse from inside the house. Police found his SUV a short distance away and arrested him soon after.

Pettibone is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow afternoon and he has yet to enter a plea.
