The Lagos State Government will on Monday, November 30, 2015
arraigned the General Overseer of Synagogue Church of All Nations and his
church trustees before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja over the collapse of a
six-storey building in his church on September 12, 2014 that killed 116 people.
A statement by the Public Relation Officer of the ministry,
Mrs Bola Akingbade said the trial will take place at the Ikeja High Court
before Justice Lawal Akapo.
A Coroner , Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, had in a verdict
ruled that the Synagogue Church and its contractors were essentially negligent
in the fatal collapse of the building.
The Coroner had recommended to the Lagos State Government
that the church be tried. The Church Trustees had however challenged the
findings and recommendation of the Coroner at the Federal High Court but the
application was dismissed on Monday November 11, 2015 paving the way for the
trial to commence.
