Thomas Fabius, the gambler son of French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius has been arrested after writing £2.3million of dud cheques to cover a frivolous gambling spree in Las Vegas. A Nevada state court issued an arrest warrant for Thomas after the millions in cheques he wrote bounced.

He is the son of Laurent Fabius who was appointed a minister in Francois Hollande's government in 2012.

Mr Fabius Jr allegedly racked up the massive $3.5million (£2.5million) of debts while gambling on May 16 2012, the night before his father was appointed a minister. He has reportedly spent millions of dollars in casinos in the past and is accused of writing bad cheques from three different bank accounts in three casinos, ranging from $100,000 to $1million.

Fabius, 33, who heads a financial consulting firm, was investigated for fraud and money laundering over a shady €7million (£5million) real estate deal in 2013.
