Mali's government has confirmed that at least 50 of its
citizens were killed in the stampede that happened last week in Muslim Hajj
pilgrimage near Mecca, Islam's holiest site.
About 40 Malians were wounded in the stampede, and a further
100 are still unaccounted for, the religious ministry said.
Saudi officials have denied reports that more than 1,000
people died in the stampede, saying that 769 were killed.
