The Nigerian army has disclosed that Boko Haram terrorists have resorted to poisoning wells and streams in areas it has abandoned. The military said some cattle had died from poisoned water in several villages in Borno state.

It said the army and air force were continuing to drive the militants out of their enclaves in the north-east of the country.

The army also warned local people not to drink from such water sources in places where Boko Haram had recently left.
