The abductors of a Lekki based petrol station owner have
been shot dead by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State
Police Command and the victim rescued. A 60-year-old , Kudirat Adeboye, a
petrol station owner, who was inspecting the construction her new petrol
station before she was kidnapped at the Elemoro area of Ibeju-Lekki. The
kidnappers were said to have demanded a N50 million ransom, but after
negotiation, they agreed to collect N3 million.
When the news got to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode
Aderanti, he ordered the officer in charge of SARS, Mr. Abba Kyari, to fish out
the kidnappers and rescue the victim. Kyari and his decoy teams trailed the
victim’s brother who was carrying the ransom to Epe.
The kidnappers, who were not aware that Kyari and his men
were trailing them came to collect the ransom and one of them who wanted to
collect it, was shot by the police. The police arrested the suspect who managed
to take them to a bush between Epe and Ijebu-Ode where the gang kept the old
woman.
The hoodlum who was badly wounded, died later, but the
police rescued the victim.
