The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State has accused
the State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress
(APC) of inducing members of the National Youth Service Corps with the sum of
N5,000.00 each to fabricate evidence and sign affidavits and other documents to
the effect that the just concluded elections in the State were manipulated.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, Mr Emma Okah,
Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the Rivers State PDP Campaign
Organisation said the Youth Corps members are intimidated and taken to the
Presidential Lodge in Government House, Port Harcourt where documents prepared
by Gov Amaechi and the APC are given to them to sign.
According to Okah, the essence of the forged affidavits and
documents signed by the Youth Corps members is to present them to the election
Petition Tribunals as if they are credible evidence against the PDP.
"This is not only a criminal offence, it is an abuse of
office on the part of the State governor and abuse of the Youth Corps members",
the statement added, noting that there is a limit to desperation on the part of
the Governor and APC.
