African Independent Television (AIT) has been barred from
covering activities of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari till further notice. The embarrassing situation
came on Monday, when AIT reporters were sent out of Defence House during the
meeting between Buhari and a visiting Cuban delegation, led by its Ambassador
to Nigeria. The AIT reporters were asked to leave the vicinity till further
notice.
Director of Press of the All Progressives Congress
Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed the
development.
"AIT has been asked to stay aside based on security and
family concerns. In addition, General Buhari has decided that they will have to
resolve some issues relating to issues of standard and ethics. We will be
talking with them to try and resolve the matter but for now, the station has
been asked to stay aside because, like I said, there are some family and
security concerns. They have been asked to step down their coverage until we
resolve the matter with them on ethics and standards."

ReplyDeleteI don't want to believe GMB is an extremists
ReplyDeleteHe'll have to ban all the media becos d media must talk
ReplyDeleteThat's too harsh
ReplyDeleteBut this is trash. There is freedom to obtain information anywhere by any media house. Does GMB have any court order in this regard?
ReplyDeleteIt's against the media ethics & AIT might not be the only ones affected in future
