The Catholic Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Malachy Goltok has died at age 49. According to the Secretary to the late Bishop Rev Fr. Andrew Batare, His Lordship Goltok was ill for about a month and was diagnosed with throat cancer. He was admitted at Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) hospital, Jos, where he died in the early hours of yesterday.


Bishop Goltok who would have celebrated his 50th birthday in July and 25th anniversary of priestly ordination in November, was appointed the second Bishop of Bauchi Diocese of the Catholic Church in 2010 when the pioneer bishop of the Diocese, His Lordship Bishop John Moore died.

In accordance with Catholic rites, Bishop Goltok according to Batare whose body had been deposited in a morgue, would be interred on Thursday March 26.
