Top sports journalists, Godwin Spiff Sagbama is dead. His death was confirmed Tuesday by his colleague and prominent sports journalist, Ade Ojeikere. It was gathered that Spiff, who used to present the popular programme, Sports Business on AIT network as an independent producer was down with a brain related disease.

The battle to return the north eastern region of Nigeria back to normalcy saw its hottest battle on Friday in Konduga. Information indicates that both the Nigerian military and the Jihadist group sustained heavy casualty in the battle to regain the town. Available information suggests the Jihadist group launched a night attack on Konduga town on Thursday, but they were surprised by a more patriotic Nigerian force than they were used to. A heated battle between the Nigerian forces and the Jihadist group ensued – resulting in the loss of lives from both camps in significant numbers.

A doctor in rural Liberia inundated with Ebola patients says he had good results with a treatment he tried out of sheer desperation, an HIV drug. Dr. Gobee Logan has given the drug, lamivudine, to 15 Ebola patients, and all but two survived. That's a 7% mortality rate. Across West Africa, the virus has killed 70% of its victims. Outside Logan's Ebola center in Tubmanburg, four of his recovering patients walk the grounds, always staying inside the fence that separates the Ebola patients from everyone else.
