Jonathan Convenes Emergency Meeting Over Ebola

President Goodluck Jonathan has convened another emergency meeting of the National Council of Health over the Ebola Virus Disease, barely two weeks after the last one was held. The meeting will be holding on Monday Sept 1 in Abuja.

Ebola: Three People Quarantined in Port Harcourt

A doctor, a pharmacist and another person, who had primary contact with the late Dr. Ikechukwu Sam Enemuo, the first Ebola victim in Rivers State, have been quarantined after showing symptoms of the virus. The results of their tests are however still being awaited.

Rev Father, Others Arrested for Fraud

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a  reverend father and one other person for allegedly defrauding one Joel Sumi of  N60,000. The state police spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed, disclosed that the two suspects, who posed as fortune tellers, deceived their victim, and defrauded him.

However, luck ran out on them as the buyer, one Ehegalara Edwin was arrested by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri and the baby  rescued.

ISIS Sell Yazidi Girls &Women in Syria

For hundreds of Yazidi girls and women, who were abducted by the Sunni Muslim extremist group, the ISIS persecution has become a nightmare, as they are being sold to its fighters in Syria, according to a human rights group. In the past few weeks, ISIS has distributed or sold about 300 female members of the persecuted religious minority who were abducted in Iraq.

Ebola Scare: 39 Immigrants Arrested in Lagos

On Friday Augudt 29, not less than 39 foreign nationals were arrested by Police and Immigration officers in two hotels on Lagos Island. It was gathered that they were arrested following a tip-off by some residents of the area over fears of the spread of Ebola virus disease.

Ebola: Abia Denies Relation of Dead Doctor Sneaking into Aba

It was reported that a relation of the Port Harcourt doctor, Iyke Enemuoh, who died while secretly treating an Ebola patient sneaked into Aba, Abia State. However, the state's government has flatly denied the rumour. Nigerian Students Arriving US Undergo Ebola Screening

As a result of Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in West Africa, US campuses are screening students arriving from Nigeria and other West African countries.
Extra health checks are part of protocols campuses throughout the United States have in place as they prepare for as many as 10,000 students from Nigeria, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, where more than 1,000 people have died in the worst Ebola outbreak in history.

Ebola Virus Enters Senegal, Health Minister Confirms

Senegal's health ministry has confirmed a first case of Ebola, making it the fifth West African country to be affected by the outbreak. Health Minister Awa Marie Coll Seck disclosed on Friday that a young man from Guinea was confirmed to have contracted the virus. The man was immediately placed in quarantine, she added.

How Ex-Gov Sylva's Uncle Died in Kidnappers' Den

Fashola Dedicates August Sanitation Exercise to Ebola Prevention

The Lagos State Government has dedicated the August sanitation exercise to the prevention of the Ebola Virus Disease. The government said the exercise, which would hold on Saturday between 7am and 10am, would be used for demonstration of preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease. The Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello, said the state government would continue to be in the forefront of the campaign for a healthier and sustainable environment.

34-yr-old Man Rapes & Infects 10-yr-old Girl with HIV in Jigawa

34-year-old man, Anas Haruna has been arrested by operatives of Jigawa State Command of Nigeria Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), for allegedly raping and defiling of ten and eleven years old girls, at Walawa quarters of Hadejia City of the state. Commandant of the Corps Dr. Muhammad Gidado revealed that Haruna's heinous act was uncovered when one of the girls showed some signs of ailment  and resisted the preliminary treatment and finally was taken to Hadejia General Hospital where she tested positive for HIV \AIDS.
