The spread of Ebola virus in Sierra Leone has set fear in the government, Sierra Leone President, Ernest Bai Koroma has declared a state of public emergency to tackle the worst ever outbreak and will call in security forces to quarantine epicentres of the deadly virus. Koroma announced he was cancelling a visit to Washington for a U.S.-Africa summit next week, because of the crisis and instead holding an emergency meeting with regional leaders in Guinea on Friday.

The much-anticipated African Muzic Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), which held at the weekend, has again confirmed hip-hop act David Adeleke, aka davido, as an artiste to be reckoned with in 2014 – the singer again, clinched the diadem for Artiste of the Year and Best Male West Africa, making it the third of such award this year. Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu has disclosed that the country’s Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi-Nnadozie did not have any contact with Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian man who died of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Lagos. Nollywood comic actor, Imeh Bishop Umoh and Anita Joseph starred in a new hilarious movie entitled, Akpabio the Calabar Boy. Produce by Ugochukwu Ojiego and directed by Humjo Ojonugwa,tells the story of a young illiterate village girl – Nkechi, who arrives to stay with her boyfriend in Lagos, but he sends her out of the house, and she decides to stay back in Lagos.
On Tuesday July 29, a man was found dead head down inside a well at Akanyn street, Shibiri Rd, Ilemba in Ojo, Ajangbadi, Lagos. Many residents of the house had fetched water from the well and even made use of the water before someone discovered there was a corpse inside it.
