The daughter of late Former Minister of Information and
Communications, Dora Akunyili, Njideka Akunyili-Crosby, a mixed-media artist has
won the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s 2014 James Dicke Prize.
The prestigious award “recognizes an artist younger than 50
who has produced a significant body of work and consistently demonstrates
exceptional creativity,” Art News reports.
According to reports, the award comes with a $25,000.
