Following investigations on the collapsed guest house of
Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Lagos State Government has declared
that the six storey building had no government approval. State Commissioner for
Physical Development and Urban Planning, Toyin Ayinde Adedamola, made the
declaration while testifying before the Coroners Court sitting in Ikeja the
state capital.
While being cross examined, the Commissioner held that lack
of approval documents of a building did not invalidate its authentic test,
indicating further that there was no scientific proof that a building without
plan could stand or fall.
Adedamola also revealed to the Coroner that the debris of
the collapsed structure remained were still at the site, as the last time he
visited the scene.
The building collapsed on Friday, September 12, 2014. About
120 people were killed in the disaster, mostly South African worshipers.
