The Ogun state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has described the
sudden death of foremost insurance guru, Chief Remi Olowude as devastating and
“a personal loss”. In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs
Olufunmilayo Wakama, Amosun said he is saddened by the news of the death of the
Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Industrial and General
Insurance (IGI) Plc.
"Honestly, I am shocked beyond words at the news of the
passing on of Chief Olowude, the father of Nigerian Modern Day Insurance. His
death is not only a loss to the insurance world but also a personal loss to me.
One can only take solace in the fact that he has gone to rest with his
Creator," Amosun said.
Amosun commiserated with the family of the deceased, the
management and staff of IGI Plc and indeed the insurance industry on the death
of Chief Olowude, describing him as a core professional who contributed
immensely to the growth of the insurance profession in Nigeria in particular
and Africa in general.
He prayed the almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest
and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
