The Lagos State Government has dedicated the August
sanitation exercise to the prevention of the Ebola Virus Disease. The
government said the exercise, which would hold on Saturday between 7am and
10am, would be used for demonstration of preventive measures to curb the spread
of the disease. The Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello, said the
state government would continue to be in the forefront of the campaign for a
healthier and sustainable environment.
He said, “Over the years, the present administration in the
state has continued to educate Lagosians to desist from unhygienic acts like
open urination and open defecation. We have also urged our citizens to clean
the environment and adopt proper waste management habit.
“Now that we have the Ebola Virus Disease in the state, this
is a wake-up call for all Lagosians to desist from unhygienic acts that can
spread the disease,” he stated.
