The much awaited Needlekraft fashion show & empowerment finally held on
Sunday, June 16th, as scheduled,  with pomp and pageantry and fashion and
entertainment lovers trooped out en masse to witness and participate in
the biggest and loudest fashion event in the country. Heralding the show
into the prestigious Civic Centre with Red-carpet interviews, celebrated
anchor man, Denrele Edun, held arriving guests spellbound with his weird
interview style in his characteristic fascinating and hilarious manner.

Opening the show with prayers, the General Overseer of Revival Assembly
Church, Apostle Anselm Madubuko, committed the event and guests into the
hands of Almighty God while musical performances by Explicit Dance Group,
Music diva Queen Ure, delectable international songstress Ashley
Stephanie, old school music crooner Francis Sky and the rave of the
moment, Oritse Femi, accentuated the event intermittently. The hilarious
jokes from the Queen of Comedy Mandy, spontaneous Kofi and ‘Hallelujah’
Gordons, got the crowd reeling with laughter.

The duo compeers, UtiNwachukwu and Susan Peters gave the event a complete package as they anchored the event with finesse and positive energy which reverberated throughout the capacity-filled  hall.

Both the model runway segment and the Celebrity runway segments were
explosive as notable Celebrities like Chidi Mokeme, Uti Nwachukwu, Alex
Ekubo, Emeka Ossai, Fredrick Leonard, Yinka Davies, Adunni Ade and host of
others strutted the runway adorned in Needlekraft Designs displaying so
much skills and attitude that can only come from grand masters of the
runway.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of free sewing machines to
less-privileged women who had earlier received free training from Needdle
Kraft, under  the Free Fashion Skill Empowerment Program.

According to Princess Tese Onokala, CEO  Needlekraft Couture ”this is our
way of giving back to the society as we believe the real worth of a man is
not in the amount of money he amassed over his lifetime, but in the number
of lives he touched.”

The event was agog with awards carted away by notable industry players and
promoters who were recognized and rewarded with ‘Fashion Icon Awards’.
Amongst them were Bevista Boss - Benny Obaze, Mudi Africa Clement Enajemo,
Seraphina’s Gem Martha Enajomo, FADAN’s President Funmi Ajila and Famfa
oil boss,  Folorunsho Alakija, who carted away their awards with great
relish.

Some notable personalities that graced the occasion include, Apostle
Anselm & Emmy Madubuko, Monalisa Chinda, Tee Mac, Chief Mrs. Oprah Benson, Hajia Abba Folawiyo, Capt Chris Najomo, Chief & Dr Mrs Enyi Onokala, Paul Obazele, Azuh Arinze, Chico Ejiro, SA to Lagos State Governor Bola Shodipo
and a host of others.

The event recorded huge corporate support as many organisations renowned
for their strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility keyed into
the women empowerment initiative by providing free sewing machines that
were distributed to the less-privileged graduating students. Notable
amongst them were: Zenith Bank, FCMB, Mikano, Intercontinental Distillers,
Godrej. Arik Air provided Free Return Tickets to London that was won
through a raffle draw.

“The Needlekraft Fashion Show & Empowerment is in its third year running
and has evolved into the biggest and most anticipated fashion show in
Nigeria, made possible by corporate sponsorship and we hope that next year
will be a puncher setting new standards,” declared Tese Onokala
