Boko Haram sect has attacked a security base in Buni Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba LGA, killing 24 officials, residents of the area have said. The victims include 13 soldiers and 11 police officers, the residents said. The attack occurred on Tuesday evening, a few minutes after 5:00 p.m. The attackers stormed the military base in ten Hilux vans, an armoured tank, and several motorcycles.

The insurgents reportedly told the residents to go back home and stay indoors as their target were the security personnel in the town. They also raided that local government secretariat and burnt most of the vehicles inside the complex.

The Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Olajide Layeye, said he was not aware of the Tuesday attack.
