It has been revealed that over 1, 400 illegal borders exist in Nigeria, which contributes to the spate of insurgencies in the country. Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang, disclosed that of these 1, 400 illegal borders, 80 exist in the North.

Only five legal control posts exist in North East, while there are 80 illegal routes through which the sect members come into the country. However, Parradang revealed that plans are underway to open up 30 new border control posts in strategic locations in the country.

"The 30 control posts we are planning will soon be unveiled, we are starting training on Monday, we are training border patrol corps to man the posts across the country," he said.
