Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola on Thursday announced
that residents of the state would enjoy free bus rides on Easter Monday, on its
LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd buses. Mrs
Oluyemi Junaid, the LAGBUS Public Relations
Officer said the free rides are aimed at promoting the use of public
transportation, as well as reducing congestion on roads on the day.
“The Lagos State Government through LAGBUS will provide free
bus rides to residents on Easter Monday, April 21.
“It is a move aimed at promoting the use of public
transportation, as well as reducing congestion on Lagos roads on the day,’’ said.
It said the free bus rides were also to celebrate the annual
Lagos Carnival, tagged LASGIDI, which coincided with Easter Monday.
According to the statement, the rides will be provided on
all LAGBUS routes across the metropolis, between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The Managing Director of LAGBUS, Mr. Babatunde Disu, urged
residents to be careful and moderate, in order to ensure a hitch-free
celebration.
