At the least three people died on Wednesday April 16, 2014 when
gas explosion occurred at Seamaster Industries Limited, Amaifeke in Orlu, Imo
State. The company is the producer of vegetable oil and table water. The blast,
which insider sources said was touched off by a gas leakage, also critically
wounded at least two other staff of the company.
The explosion was said to have blown out windows in
surrounding buildings and sent debris crashing onto nearby streets, and in
between the house and office of senatorial aspirant, Chief Chidi Felix Idiga (Jafac).
The explosion was equally attributed to electrical touching,
when the victims were atop the gas plant during the routine services to clean
the blockade from the nuzzles.
