The Presidential Spokesman, Reuben Abati has corrected the notion that the shooting that occurred between captured Boko Haram members and men of State Security Service (SSS) came close to Aso Rock Villa and led President Goodluck Jonathan to leave the Villa. According to Abati, the shooting has nothing to do with the Villa, and there is no cause for alarm.

He stated:

"What happened at the SSS HQs has nothing to do with the Villa. President Jonathan is safe & well. Thank you for your concern & support. What happened at the SSS HQ this morning was an attempted jailbreak which has been effectively foiled. There is no cause for alarm".

Julia Blaise Blog (JBB) gathered that 18 suspected Boko Haram members were killed during the jailbreak attempt. One suspected terrorist in custody of SSS overpowered the operative who was in the cell to feed him in the morning, took his gun, shoot him and proceeded to release other suspects in the cell.
