There are strong indications that as you are reading this,
former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has surrendered
himself to the State Security Service (SSS) at about 8am on Jan 27, 2014. It
was revealed that Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi and Major Hamza
Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Gen. Sani
Abacha, escorted him to the headquarters of SSS in Abuja.
“Confirming the story, El-Rufai stated this morning: “On the
way to SSS HQ with Governor Rotimi Amaechi, APC National Secretary, Treasurer,
Hubert Shaiyen and other party leaders and AU Mustapha. All we demanded was a
warrant as required by law. They have shown one to my lawyer over the weekend. We
will report & hear them out.
“We are resisting lawlessness & impunity. Gov. Amaechi
suffers this in Rivers. I am honored that Amaechi & APC are supportive of
that stand.”
On getting to the SSS HQ, he stated: "Inside SSS HQ, they are now saying that Governor Amaechi and. Senator Ngige will not allowed into the building after working 500m...impunity."
The SSS launched a manhunt for El-Rufai following what the
service called his alleged inflammatory statement on 2015 general polls
