It has been a day of mourning in Umuaka, Imo state as a woman and her daughter were crushed to death by a truck. The woman identified as Mrs. Joy Ihebie and daughter, Miss Anulika Ihebie from Isu LGA of the state, were crushed by the truck conveying gravels to construction site along Orlu-Owerri road, Umuaka. Anurika’s death came less than one week before her traditional marriage ceremony, scheduled to hold on December 25. The late woman were returning from the bank where they went to withdraw money meant for the payment of workers at the building site of her overseas-based son, who is a twin brother of late Anulika.
 
It was gathered that the deceased were riding on a motorcycle when a reckless motorcyclist attempted to overtake them through the right hand side only for the handle of the overtaking motorcycle to brush that of the deceased. This incident caused the Ihebies to lose control and fell directly in front of an on-coming truck which immediately crushed them.

The reckless motorcyclist who was carrying a lady, also skidded into the gutter, leaving the young lady with a broken limb. But, the motorcyclist did not sustain injuries,

The truck with registration number, AA 128 MBL(Abia State) was said to be conveying the gravels from Okigwe before the incident occurred.
