The producers of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Africa Film Academy, will be going a step further to make the award more worthwhile for filmmakers as they have added monetary reward.  AFA has budgeted over $50,000 for winners come 2014 when its 10th edition will hold. In a statement obtained by Julia Blaise Blog (JBB), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the award, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and members of the organizing committee noted that a whopping $10,000 would be shared among journalists, who have exceedingly display a proper propagation of the AMAA brand in the last 9 years.
The cash prize would be shared among 3 winners-first prize, $5,000, 2nd prize is $3,000 and while the third prize is $2,000 for journalists who emerge winners. AMAA promises to reward winners of the Africa’s Best People’s Choice Awards-nominees are past winners in major categories of the AMAA in the last 9years!

Winners of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film, Best Director and more from the Africa’s Best People’s Choice Awards, would be awarded a sum of $10,000 each.

According to the statement, that the Africa Movie Academy team has trained over 2500 people across the continents in filmmaking and acting related courses.


It was revealed that AMAA’s credibility can’t be questioned or judged as the jury headed by popular film critic, Steve Ayorinde consist of major curators of the African cinema at all major cinemas and film festivals all over the world.
