Nollywood actress and producer, Queen Temitope Oluwa has
dragged DAAR Communications, the owners of Africa Independent Television, AIT
to court over the copyright of her movie entitled, Atupa Emi. The movie is said
to be airing illegally in the station.
The Saratu star’s attorney, M.A Bashua & Co. filed a case against the
television company to the tune of N5million as damages for the copyright
infringement.
The actress said she was surprised to see her movie in AIT
as she never gave any TV station the right to air her movie. Afterwards, she contacted
Kenny Ogubgbe and told him what happened,
he promised to get back to her but he never did until she was forced to send a
BBM broadcast about it to her contacts in which he is one of them and used the
picture she snapped on the TV while the film was being aired with AIT logo on
my DP.
Few minutes after the broadcast, she got a call from someone
claiming to be an agent that sold the film to AIT. She was amazed as she has never
heard about him until when he called. She demanded to know who gave him the
right to sell her movie without her consent.
Twice her lawyer sent letters to them which DAAR
Communication simply ignored till date.
She therefore instituted a case against DAAR Communication
over the copyright infringement on her movie, Atupa Emi.
