Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimt Amaechi has disclosed his intention to go ahead with the planned public protest match against the failing security in Rivers state. Governor Amaechi made the statement when a delegation from Orashi and ONELGA paid him a visit in Government House Port Harcourt. He said he was not deterred by the threat from the Rivers state Police Commissioner to arrest public protesters in the state.

Amaechi said, “We are going to protest against what the Federal government and the police are doing in Rivers state. We have told our chiefs to get ready once we get a date. We have people from overseas that will join us. I have told them to shoot me because I will be in front. We have the right to express our views”.

The governor also said he will maintain his persistence against the take over of oil wells belonging to Rivers state.
